Grasslands Public Schools will be holding a Google Summit from EdTechTeam Canada at Brooks Composite High School Aug. 22-23.
Assistant superintendent Sean Beaton said they organize conferences across North America and throughout the world.
He said the summit is an opportunity to bring teachers together in divisions where Google apps are used for education.
It’s an opportunity for educators to get ready for the year and learn from each other on how to better use and integrate technology into their classroom.
Beaton said technology isn’t going to replace high quality teaching. It is going to enhance it.
Response to the summit has been positive. He said between 70-90 teachers and support staff will attend.
This is the first time a summit of this nature will be held in Brooks.
Beaton applied in the fall of 2018 for Grasslands to host it.
“I felt it is a cost effective way to host something in your home town. Teachers don’t have to pay for travel expenses. It is here and the division is supporting that.”
Beaton said he has attended two Google Summits and learned a ton when he was first in his role as learning innovation coordinator.
