AJHL’s Brooks Bandits former assistant coach Evan McFeeters has traded a blue and red jersey for a green and white as the new coach of the AJHL Sherwood Park Crusaders.
McFeeters, 34, worked with the Bandits and head coach Ryan Papaioannou from September 2020 to June 2022 and was in place during the team’s national championship in May.
The Crusaders finished in last place in the north division in the 2021-22 season with a record 25-30-5.
“I’m excited to have Evan join the Crusaders,” said Adam Sergerie, president of hockey operations.
McFeeters will also fill the role as the associate general manager.
“He’s very popular around the league, is held in high regard and we’re very lucky to have the opportunity to get to work with him moving forward.”
McFeeters replaces Jeff Woywitka who was relieved as Crusaders head coach and general manager in April after six years with the team.
He took over as head coach in November 2021 when Adam Manah left the team.
