The Norma Douglass women’s curling team improved their provincial finish by one spot over last year.
“We were a little disappointed but we had a good year. We were hoping for the win,” said team skip Norma Douglass.
Over the weekend the team competed at the 2025 Alberta Club Championship Women’s Provincial in Okotoks where they went 4-1 in the round robin and faced Edmonton’s Thistle #2 Curling Club, which finished second with a 4-1 record in Pool B.
“I did not hold up my end of the job. I kind of left the girls hanging a couple of end. The other team made the shots that needed to be made. It’s just the way it goes,” said Douglass.
She said there’s always a little disappointment when you lose.
“We had a really good year so we kind of thought going in that we had really good chances but that’s how curling goes sometimes; you do it, sometimes you don’t.”
Douglass’ team, which finished fourth at last year’s club provincials, is made up Katie Crump and Heather Wilson, her two sisters, and Karen Morrison.
“It’s always good to go and curl when it’s a step up from club curling. It is club curling but it is a step up from your regular bonspiels.
“It’s always nice to be competitive again,” Douglass said.
