Bassano’s Sabine Nasse was presented with an Alberta Immigrant Impact in the Small Community Enhancement category by the provincial minister of immigration and multiculturalism.
Nasse, a former CAO with the Town of Bassano, was recognized as a dedicated community leader who’s been instrumental in enhancing local services and volunteer efforts in her home community.
“With a rich background in finance and administration, she has been a vital part of recreation facility upgrades, support for local seniors, health care and businesses,” states a release.
“I am truly honoured and humbled to be one of the recipients of this award,” said Nasse.
She said when she learned about her nomination a couple of months ago she was delighted.
“But when I received an email that I was selected my heart did a back flip. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
She said the award is not only a recognition of her accomplishments but is also a reflection of her “incredible mentors and teammates who stood by over the years.
“A big thank you to them for being part of my journey. I could not done it without them.”
The awards were presented Oct. 4 to celebrate the outstanding contributions of Albertans born abroad.
Nasse, who was born in Hornburg, Niedersachen, Germany and grew up in Achim, a town with a population of 320, immigrated to Canada in 1993.
She started working at the finance manager for Brooks Community Adult Learning Council in 2018.
