Ziegler – Carl Ziegler of Brooks passed away at Brooks Health Centre on July 18th, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Karl was born near Hesketh, Alberta and was raised on the family farm near Carbon. Karl received his education at Carbon and was employed in the trucking industry, as a mechanic and a water hauler. He owned Gulf Service Stations in Olds and Innisfail until 1983 and soon found employment as a mechanic with New Holland in Drumheller. Karl was an auctioneer and was also the builder of the Rose Hill Auction Mart in Drumheller.
Karl and Donna moved to Bassano in the 1990s to be closer to family and was employed at the New Holland dealership in Brooks until retiring at age 83. Karl was a member of the Bassano Elks Lodge, Royal Canadian Legion and Lions Club. As a skilled mechanic, Karl enjoyed all types of repair and was also considered somewhat of an inventor. He enjoyed tinkering on projects, carpentry, camping, playing horseshoes and simply giving of his time to others. Karl loved his family very much and will be remembered as a hardworking, caring family man. He was predeceased by his son Gary in 1985 and his wife Donna in 2010. He is survived by his 2 children; son Bryon Ziegler of Olds and his children Marshall and Cody and daughter Cretia Bergquist of Duchess, her children Landen and Garett and her husband Daylen.
