ZAVERUCHA – Leona Marie Zaverucha, beloved wife of Jack Zaverucha of Brooks, passed away peacefully in Calgary on September 19th, 2003 at the age of 47 years. Born in Morinville, Alberta on March 18th, 1956 Leona received her education in Barrhead, Alberta and moved to Brooks in 1983 to work for Transalta Utilities. Leona and Jack were married on June 9th, 1990 in Barrhead and resided in Brooks. She also worked for the Shell Bulk Plant as a bookkeeper and at the Windmill Bakery and later the Co-op Marketplace Bakery. She loved her family, her dog “Zoey”, animals, flowers and gardening. Leona will be remembered for her humour, for her love of people and for her giving nature. She was predeceased by her father Maurice. Leona is survived by her loving husband Jack of Brooks; mother Gertrude Caouette of Barrhead; 2 sisters Florence (Terry) Clements of Vernon, B.C. and Yvonne Smith of Spruce Grove, Ab.; 2 brothers Paul Caouette of Surrey, B.C. and Dan (Tina) Caouette of Swan Hills, Ab.; mother-in-law Sonia Zaverucha, 1 sister-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law all of Cochrane, Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 25th from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brooks. The Rev. Mr. Robert N. Wilson Deacon officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Robert Clements, Tyler Clements, Cameron Smith and Jered Smith. A memorial service will also be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 26th from St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Barrhead. Rev. Real Levasseur officiating. Inurnment to follow at Barrhead Cemetery.
