ZACHARIAS – Victor Jacob Zacharias of Bassano, passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on March 27th, 2004 at the age of 76 years. Vic was born in Harris, Saskatchewan on July 18th, 1927, and moved with his family to Rosemary, where he received his education. Vic later worked for Federal Creamery, The Lindquist Store, Sun Oil and hauled milk for the late Cal Crapo, but was best known for driving school bus in Rosemary from 1956 to 1985.
Vic moved to the Playfair Lodge, Bassano in 1991 and had resided there since. He loved his family and hockey, especially the Calgary Flames. Vic will be remembered for being a friend to everyone. He was predeceased by his parents, Abram and Margaret Zacharias. Vic is survived by his loving family, brother Ed and his wife Marg of Rosemary; 2 nieces, Bev Johnson and her children Nicole and Brock of Rosemary and Jeannie (Lance Filimek) Zacharias of Baynes Lake, BC; nephew Dwight Zacharias and his wife Sharon and their children Reegan and Ryland of Rosemary. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 31st from the Rosemary Mennonite Church. Rev. Roy Hewko officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Nicole, Brock, Reegan, Ryland, all his school bus kids, friends, and staff at the Playfair Lodge. Active Pallbearers are Dwight Zacharias, Lance Filimek, Rod Dyck, Harold Unruh, Tracy Tanigami and Ernie Wiens.
