    Wiens – Mary Wiens, beloved wife of Jacob Wiens of Brooks passed away in Brooks on December 1st at the age of 81 years. Born to Peter and Katharina Wiebe on January 9th, 1926 in Milden, Saskatchewan, Mary moved to Gem at the age of 3 with her parents and her brother John. After one year, they moved to Rosemary where two more sisters Margaret and Edna were born. Mary attended Clemenceau School until Grade 8. The next two winters were spent at MBI in Didsbury after which she took a sewing course in Coaldale. Mar was baptized in 1944 by C.D. Harder upon confession of her faith in Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Rosemary Mennonite Church until her passing. Mary and Jacob became engaged in 1945 and were married on September 30thof that year. They were blessed with four children Loreen, Ernest, Richard, and Larry. They purchased a farm 3 miles north of Rosemary in 1951 where they lived and farmed for 36 years. Loreen, Richard, Ernest and Larry have many fond memories of being raised on the farm. In 1987 Mary and Jacob purchased a home in Rosemary and enjoyed 17 years there. Three years ago, they moved into the Newbrook Lodge in Brooks. Mary was a dedicated wife of 62 years. She worked hard on the farm providing the best for her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, crocheting, embroidering, making blankets and participating in the Countess Verein, the Christian Women’s Fellowship and the Gideon’s Auxiliary. She was very proud of her family and she made sure to introduce them to everyone she came in contact with at the lodge. She always showed great interest in what her children and their families were doing. She was predeceased by her father Peter, mother Katharina, and one sister Margaret Eckert. She is survived by her husband Jacob; sister Edna (Albert) Bittner; brother John; brother-in-law Jacob Eckert (Delores); four children Loreen (Harold) Forrest, Ernest (Kathy) Wiens, Richard (Esther) Wiens, and Larry (Susan) Wiens; 12 grandchildren Eldon, Roxy (BJ), Kyle (Amy), Dustin (Lindsay), Amy, Denise, Randy, Brendan, Stephanie, Tara, and Daniel; 3 great-grandchildren Wyatt, Leah, Stella and numerous nieces and nephews. We Love you Mom and you will be dearly missed. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 6th from Rosemary Mennonite Church. Rev. Roy Hewko officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Mary’s Granddaughters. Active Pallbearers are Daniel Wiens, Randy Wiens, Brendan Wiens, Dustin Wiens, Eldon Forrest, Kyle Forrest and BJ Grove.
