Wiebe – Karl Heinz Wiebe of Hays (previously Rosemary) passed away in southern Sudan where he was serving his Lord. He passed away on September 25, 2007 at the age of 69. Born in Schonsee, Prussia, on October 20, 1937, Karl and his twin brother Eckardt were the youngest of 5 children. In May of 1951, with the help of MCC, he and his family immigrated to Coaldale, AB where they worked in the sugar beet fields. Later, in 1956, the family moved to Rosemary where he met and married Mary Anne Dyck on March 11th, 1962. Karl and Mary Anne lived and worked on a dairy farm outside of Rosemary where he was active in church work and enjoyed singing in the choir. They were blessed with 5 children and 7 grandchildren before Mary Anne passed away in 2000. Karl found happiness with his 2nd wife Annie (Riva) Wiebe whom he married on September 18th, 2004. The family continued to grow with the addition of 4 more grandchildren and Karl continued to give freely to anyone with a need. On August 30, 2007, Karl left for the Sudan to help people there to grow their own food. While there, God called him home and he will be missed by his wife Annie, children: Leo (Donna), Marietta (Frank), Linda, Cathy (Gerald) and Lawrence, his grandchildren, and a large extended family. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 2nd at 2:00 PM from the Rosemary Mennonite Church. Rev. Roy Hewko officiated. Interment was held in Romogi, Southern Sudan.
