White – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daryl White in Brooks on August 10th, 2013 at the age of 66 years. Daryl was born on February 3rd, 1947 and was raised in Saskatoon where he met and married Marylea Pope, before settling in Brooks in 1975. From an early age Daryl was involved in the restaurant industry, owning and managing many establishments over the years. He is probably best known for his banquets while with the Tel Star and burgers and blizzards at the Dairy Queen. Daryl was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was very active in the community, spending many years in the Kinsmen Club, playing Oldtimers hockey, and serving as Justice of the Peace. In later years, he took great pleasure in boating with his grandkids. Daryl also loved to travel, especially cruising. He loved a good joke and took great pride in his family’s accomplishments. Daryl will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched. He was predeceased by his parents Allan and Connie White. Daryl is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Marylea; son David (Carrie) White; daughter Joelle (Neal) Church; five grandchildren, who meant the world to him: Aleigha, Cohen, Hayden, Ethan and Avery; sister Marlyn (Dennis) Lamb; niece Michelle Lamb; stepmother Doris White and numerous other family members. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16th at 2:00 PM from the Brooks United Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiating. In memory of Daryl, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of one’s choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Tom Baker Cancer Center in Calgary and the Brooks Hospital for their loving care and support.
