Whewell – Elly Marie Whewell of Brooks, died peacefully at the Brooks Health Centre – Long Term Care Unit 4 on April 3rd, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Born in Sjovegan, Norway on October 23rd, 1917 she moved with her family to Saskatchewan when she was 8 years old. Elly married Carl Whewell and moved to Brooks in 1966. She moved to Villa 4 in 1986 and resided there until she was placed in Long term care a few months ago. Elly enjoyed watching sports and game shows. Curling, hockey, baseball and Wheel of Fortune were among her favorites. Her past times also included knitting and visiting with her friends. Elly’s friendly nature and quick wit will be remembered by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Carl; parents; 2 sisters Gunvor Cheyne and Signe Needham; brother Meyer Pedersen; 3 nephews Bob Henderson, Wayne Cheyne and Jim Needham and a niece Vicky Bentz. Elly is survived by her loving family, 2 sisters Milley Henderson and her husband Ed of White Rock, BC and Bertha Bentz of Brooks; brother Melvin Borge and his wife Valerie of Brooks and many nieces and a nephew. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11th at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Theiss officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Elly’s friends from Villa 4.
