    Westwood – James Edward Westwood, beloved husband of Carol Westwood passed away suddenly on August 2nd, 2020 in Brooks, Alberta at the age of 70 years. James was born on December 21st, 1949 in Belper, Darbyshire, England to parents George and Mary Westwood. He met the love of his life Carol and they were married on September 23rd, 1972 in Brereton, Rugeley, England. It was there where they started their family, having son Mark and daughter Melanie. James graduated from Stafford Collage in 1973 and became a heavy duty mechanic. He immigrated a couple times between England and Canada, before permanently staying in 1990. James lived in Leaf Rapids, Manitoba, working at the Hudson’s Bay Mine, until he moved to Brooks in 1995. He worked for Crosstown Truck until 1997, then chased rigs for CenAlta and Precision Well Services, eventually working for himself until his retirement in 2018. Even after James retired, he still continued to tinker around to keep himself busy. James had many interests including spending time with his grandchildren, listening to music, especially Queen, watching black and white movies, old cars and reading. He will be best remembered for his sense of humour, his genuine care and love for everyone and his ability to fix almost anything. James was predeceased by his father George in 1995 and mother Mary in 2004. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Carol Westwood of Brooks; son Mark Westwood of England; daughter Melanie (Thomas) Dodge of Brooks; daughter-in-law Brandy Hagg (Robert) of Brooks and his 5 cherished grandchildren Jaydan, Kya, Tracen, Katen and Tallis. James’ family would like to thank the emergency services for their efforts, care and compassion. At his request there will be no funeral service and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation is entrusted to and conducted by Smith Funeral Home Ltd. and Crematorium, Brooks.
