    Odd Ralph Wester

    O.R. “Ralph” Wester entered His Lord’s presence at the age of 93 on March 4 at Brooks, Alberta.

    Ralph was born November 26, 1928 at Toten, Norway to Rolf and Anna Vestraas.  In April of 1929, when Ralph was 4 months old, the 3 of them arrived in Canada aboard the ‘Stavangerfjord’, landing at Pier 21 in Halifax.  They made their way west and settled in the Tilley district.

    In 1955, Ralph and Althea Schaeffer were married, and they raised their family while operating a mixed grain and poultry farm. He enjoyed life on the farm and participated in all the farm activities until moving to the Orchard Manor in 2018.

    Ralph is preceded in death by his wife Althea, and his daughter Debbie, as well as his parents Anna and Ralph, step-mother Gertie, siblings Norman, Arne and Evelyn, and numerous Wester and Schaeffer brother and sisters-in-law.

    Ralph is survived by Son Daniel Wester (Linda). Grandson Greg (Cabrinie) great granddaughters Octavia and Aurelia, great grandson Evander. Grandson Dale (Jody) great grandsons Benjamin and Reid.

    Son David Wester (Susan). Grandson Andrew (Andria) great grandson Matthew, great granddaughter Elizabeth. Grandson Bradley (Anita) great granddaughters Michaela and Hailey. Grandson Christopher (Vanessa) great granddaughter Nadia and great grandson Gunnar. Granddaughter Laura Froese (Darryl) great grandsons Hanzel, James, William, Erik, Stanley, Gustav, great granddaughter Katherine, and great grandson Thomas. Granddaughter Melissa (Kyle) great grandson Tyler.

    Daughter Tammy Beutel (Gary). Granddaughter Kimberley Findlay (Ben) great granddaughters Ada and Harper. Grandson Ryan Beutel. Granddaughter Brittany Herak (Daniel).

    Sisters-in-law Phyllis Schaeffer and Anne Wester, numerous Nephews and Nieces.

     

    We want to thank the staff and residents at Orchard Manor for their excellent care and making his days enjoyable.

    Arrangements for interment at Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery and a memorial for Ralph and Althea will be made at a later time.
