    Walde – Susie Walde, beloved wife of the late John A. Walde, passed away in Brooks on September 8th, 2005 at the age of 99 years. Born in Orloff, Sagradowka, Ukraine, the youngest child of Peter and Elizabeth Friesen on November 24th, 1905. She was baptized upon confession of her faith in June of 1925. Suzie came to Manitoba with her parents in the fall of 1925. She and John Walde were married in Kleefeld, Manitoba on December 16th, 1926. They moved to Gem in 1929 and farmed in the community until retiring to Rosemary in 1960. Susie was a Founding Member of the Westheimer Church in 1929 which became the Mennonite Church of Rosemary in 1930. She had served as President of Ladies Ministries of Gem and Rosemary, President of Ladies Conference of Alberta and had taught Sunday School. She was very active in MCC making blankets for the needy, crocheting and knitting. Susie will be lovingly remembered as a very good Mom, for her hospitality (there was always room for one more at her table), for her smile and her gratitude. After John’s death on May 19th, 1988, Susie came to Brooks to the Pioneer Villa for a short time, returned to Rosemary to the Rosemary Villa, resided in the Newbrook Lodge in Brooks and was the first resident of the Orchard Manor where she resided until her death. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, nine siblings, daughter Agnes, son-in-law Henry Harms, granddaughter Jackie Walde, great grandson Travis Enns and 2 infant great granddaughters in the Voth family. She is survived by her loving family, daughters Elma Harms, Linda (Abe) Nikkel and Lou (Bill) Enns; sons Ernie (Anne) Walde, John (Elma) Walde and Alfred (Elvera) Walde; son-in-law Raymond (Elsie) Neufeld; 28 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Rogalsky and Nettie Dyck and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuedsay, September 13th from the Mennonite Church of Rosemary. Rev. Roy Hewko and Rev. Herman Walde officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were the Caregivers at Orchard Manor. Active Pallbearers were grandchildren Diana Dreschner, Roy Nikkel, Grant Enns, Darcy Walde, Darrell Walde, Cliff Walde and Don Walde.
