Vossepoel – Nellie Vossepoel of Brooks, beloved mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt and beloved wife of the late Jack Vossepoel, passed away in Brooks on Tuesday, December 31st, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Nellie was born August 11th, 1929 in Nederhorst den Berg, Netherlands, the middle child of 11 to Dirk and Anna Hoetmer. Nellie married Jack Vossepoel on May 24th, 1951 in the Netherlands and they immigrated to Canada six weeks later. They settled in the High River area, where they resided for 10 years. In that time the family increased by 4 children, Gary, Dick, Mary and Anna. In the spring of 1961, the family moved to the Medicine Hat area, where they rented a farm for 4 years. The family purchased a farm in the Tilley area in the spring of 1965, where Nellie and Jack lived, until their retirement in 1992, when they moved to Brooks. They settled in the Ingram Park area, making new friends and had many fond memories of the block parties. Nellie moved into the Newbrook Lodge in 2010, where she thoroughly enjoyed the lifestyle and meeting new people. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, daughters Anna and Mary, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Nellie is survived by her two sons; Gary and his wife Gina of Victoria, British Columbia and Dick and his wife Ronnie of Tilley; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 sister; 3 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the staff at the Brooks Health Centre for the excellent care Mom received. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 7th at 2:00 PM from Brooks Christian Reformed Church. Rev. John Vanderburg officiated. Interment took place at 11:00 AM at Brooks Cemetery.
