    Vorra – Phyllis Ruth Secord (Wannamaker) Vorra of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Homer Roy Vorra, passed away in Brooks on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Phyllis was born on March 30th, 1928 in Claresholm, Alberta to Alan and Phoebe Wannamaker. She was an identical twin, affectionately known as “the little one.” She came to Brooks and worked for her first cousin, Stewart Ferguson, in the photography shop. Phyllis then turned to waitressing, where she met her future husband Roy Vorra. From there, she went to cashiering in Ingram’s Grocery Store. Phyllis and Roy were married on January 7th, 1951 in her parent’s house in Claresholm. She was predeceased by her loving husband Roy in 1997, son Doug in 2015, granddaughter Laurissa Vorra in 1990, great granddaughter Alleyna Huber in 2006, son-in-law Wayne Aebly in 1994, twin sister Frances in 1983 and her parents. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Houseman and her husband David, Marie Matheson and her husband Jamie, Sara Young and her husband Norman, Beverly Larsen and her husband Paul, Caroline Middlebrook and her husband Don; daughter-in-law Gail Vorra; siblings, Margaret Hawkins and James Wannamaker and his wife Ann; sisters-in-law Bev Vorra and Alfreda Vorra; brothers-in-law, Bill Vorra and his wife June and Norman Spyker and his wife Linda; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31st at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Theiss officiating. In memory of Phyllis, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Brooks Food Bank Foundation, Box 293, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3.
