Volesky – Isabel Katharine Volesky of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Verne Volesky, passed away peacefully in Brooks, and into the arms of her Lord and Saviour, at the age of 87 years. Mom was born September 12th, 1932, the eldest child born to John and Mary Bahsler of Langenburg, Saskatchewan. She was baptized and confirmed at Hoffenthal Lutheran Church. Mom was raised on the family farm, north east of Langenburg. After completing grade 8, she worked as a hired girl for various families in the area. In the fall of 1951, at the age of 19, she came west to Alberta to visit a cousin at Lomond. This is where she met Dad, a local farmer, at a dance and they were married the following year on October 10th, 1952. They made their home east of Lomond at Badger Lake and farmed together for 46 years. In the summer of 1966, Mom and Dad opened up their home to become foster parents, and over a 15 year period they fostered nine children. Life was always busy for mom. She was an extremely hard-working farm wife. There was always a large vegetable garden to tend, cows to milk, calves to bottle feed, chickens to feed etc. Mom was a wonderful seamstress and made most of our clothes. In later years, she took up quilting and made quilts for many family members. Following Dad’s passing in 2000, Mom remained on the farm for 15 years, during this time she enjoyed many bus trips with DeJong Tours. In the fall of 2015, Mom moved into the Newbrook Lodge in Brooks, where she made many new friends. There were many trips made back to the farm, as the Lodge was a wonderful place to be, but it just wasn’t home. Mom was a member of the Lomond Sunshine Drop-In Centre, Bethany Lutheran Church in Lomond, and in her later years, Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooks. Mom was predeceased by her husband Verne Volesky, parents John and Mary Bahsler and sisters Teresa (Emil) Scheinous and Doreen (Don) McLeod. She is survived by her son, Wayne Volesky; daughters, Leeann (Doug) Prenevost and LaVonne Volesky; grandchildren, Troy and Leah Prenevost; siblings, Diane (Roy) Ulmer of Barrhead, Alberta and Valentine Bahsler of Langenburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was a pillar of strength to our family and she will be dearly missed. In memory of Isabel, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to either Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 811 Cassils Road West, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 0E4 or Lomond Sunshine Drop-In Centre, 115 1st Street South, Lomond, Alberta   T0L 1G0. A private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
