    Kristoffer Vikedal, beloved husband of Beatrice of Brooks passed away at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on May 24th, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Kris was born in Vikedal, Norway on March 7th, 1935 and came to Canada in 1950. He made a living as a hired hand on farms and in 1958 was married in Brooks to Beatrice Banek. They farmed for a year at Rainier and moved to Brooks in 1960. He worked with the County of Newell building roads and running grader from 1960 until he opened his own company called Deer Valley Earthmoving in 1977. Kris returned to work with the County of Newell in 1991 until his retirement in 2005. He moved from their acreage back to Brooks in 2006 until his passing. Kris was very passionate about stock car racing; he owned his own car and #18 often raced in Brooks, Taber, Hanna and Maple Creek. Kris also enjoyed watching NASCAR and never missed watching a race on television. He was a hard worker and could operate any piece of heavy construction equipment. Kris was also a skilled mechanic, so if it broke he could usually also repair it. He enjoyed his work and will be remembered for his construction skills and love of family. He was predeceased by his parents Ole and Judit and his brother Joe. Kris is survived by his loving wife Beatrice, son Daniel (Laurie) of Brooks, sister Gunnhild of Brooks, brother John of Okotoks, grandson Kevin (Shannon) and their children Davin and Peyton of Patricia, granddaughter Kelly and her son Cayden of Brooks and Kyle of Brooks. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 30th at Thom’s Funeral Home and Reception Centre in Duchess, Pastor Daryle Fox Officiating. Graveside Services will be held at Brooks Cemetery.
