TOROK – With sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Allen Torok on January 21, 2023. Richard (Rick) was born in Brooks AB on January 3, 1963 to Larry and Gladys Torok. The oldest of three children he grew up around the Rolling Hills, Medicine Hat and Brooks areas. Richard leaves behind to mourn his three children, Corlee Torok of Lethbridge, Aaron Torok(Dilraj Kaur) of Airdrie, Myranda Torok of Calgary. His parents Larry and Gladys Torok of Edmonton, sisters Sandy Torok(Dan Kohanik), Karen and Dale Johnman, all of Edmonton. Beloved Granddaughter Kaylee Torok of Airdrie. Richard was predeceased by his grandparents John and Belle Torok, Walter and Phyllis Degenstien and Joseph Thomas Kopp. Richard passed away suddenly while in Kamloops BC where he was working at the time. Richard was an avid hunter and he loved nothing more than packing up for hunting trips and heading to the mountains or in the bush with his friends every fall and he shared his passion for hunting with his son Aaron. Rick also loved spending his time with his family and extended family and enjoyed getting together at gatherings and functions as often as he could. He had a way with animals, especially dogs, his constant companion was little Carlos his pet chihuahua. Richard had built a career in the NDT industry that spanned 30 years working with various companies, most recently UT Quality. Richard was hard working and well respected within his field having achieved his NDT Level 3 inspection certification. His work allowed him to travel taking him to St. Maarten, Scotland, England and parts of the USA. Rick was also a gifted artist and had completed a 2 year Graphic Design program at Lethbridge College, he spent many hours drawing and cartooning. Richard has made many lifelong friends through his work, school and hunting. He will be greatly missed by all, especially his children. Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks, Alberta at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
