Tomlinson
– Deanna Tomlinson (nee Christensen) of Brooks, loving wife of Gene Tomlinson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in the Brooks Health Centre on January 26, 2025, at 67 years of age. Deanna was born August 4, 1957, in Innisfail, Alberta to Stan and Delia Christensen, growing up on the family farm outside Dickson, Alberta. After graduating from high school in Spruce View, Alberta, she moved out and found the career in insurance she would dedicate her life to, working at a few offices in Central Alberta. Deanna married Gene Tomlinson in May of 1980, settling in Brooks and raising their children Laramie and Cody on the family farm. Deanna resumed her career in insurance with Wilson, Krochak & Broadbent, staying with them as they changed to WKB/Newell Agencies and finally Western Financial Group, serving her clients for nearly 45 years, while being nominated and winning the Chamber of Commerce Businessperson of the year award twice. Deanna always volunteered, starting with the preschool when her children were young, then various roles with their sports leagues, the Diabetes Association and for the last several years the Brooks Bandits. Throughout the years Deanna enjoyed skiing, curling, playing slo-pitch, and travelling with her family. Dress club and Rummoli games nights with her friends were also highlights. She took immense pride in the beautiful flowers she grew each year. Deanna was predeceased by her son Cody Tomlinson; parents, Stan and Delia Christensen; in-laws Winston and Yvonne Tomlinson; sisters, Carole (Palei Ili) Christensen-Ili and Marguerite Christensen and sister-in-law Della Tomlinson. She is survived by her husband Gene Tomlinson; daughter Laramie Tomlinson; sisters, Lavonne (Perry) Lyke and Darlene (Norman) Graham; brothers-in-law Bill (Evelyn) Tomlinson and Ken Tomlinson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6th at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church.
