Timko (nee Banbur) – Mary passed away peacefully at the Seasons Retirement Community in High River on the evening of Thursday, December 1st at the age of 92 years. Mary is survived by her five children, John (Phyllis) Timko of Tilley, Mary Anne Patterson of Lethbridge, Irene Myslicki of Calgary, Edward (Donna) Timko of Tilley and Teresa (Doug) Phelan of High River. Mary is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, Jason, Sasha, Victoria, Robert, Darren, Sabrina, Nelson, Alex, Dylan, Megan and Thomas and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John Timko Sr., her brothers, Stan Banbur and Kazmier Banbur and parents Victor (Vincent) and Mary Banbur. Mary was born in Iron Springs, AB on September 28th, 1930. Mary lived on the family farm until the age of 17. She met her husband, John at a barn dance (where he played the fiddler in the band). They were married November 10th, 1947, in Tilley, AB. They purchased a farm two miles down the road from her husband’s original homestead and was married for 52 years. While living on the farm she always took part in working in the fields, taking care of the cattle, and doing various farm chores. Her love of all was working in her huge garden and planting various flowers in her yard. Mary was also an active member of the St. Jude’s Catholic Society in Tilley. She lived on the farm until 2007. Mary then moved to High River and lived independently at Spitzee House, until 2014. She then moved into Seasons Retirement Community in High River. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Seasons Retirement Community in High River as well as Dr. Fortin for their compassionate and professional care over the last several months. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 10th, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 511 – 4th Street W., Brooks, AB. Rev. Marino Infante Celebrant. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
