    TIEGS – KENNETH CHRISTY TIEGS passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Monday, September 5, 2005 at the age of 76 years. Ken was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on June 29, 1929. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara; their children: Bruce Tiegs of Brooks, Linda Paterson (Dale) of Calgary, Bob Tiegs (Sandra) of Brooks, and Elaine Zeer (Lonnie) of Calgary; and daughter-in-law Debbie Tiegs of Brooks. Ken was a fun-loving grandpa to his eight grandchildren: Shelby Tiegs, Lisa Marcy, Jodi Paterson, Meghan Kimmel, Fletcher Kimmel, Michelle Zeer, Brittany Zeer, and Luan Zeer. Ken is also survived by three sisters: Joyce Shackleton (Jack), Lois Peterson (Peter), and Ellie Bauer (John Penner); sisters-in-law: Sheila Tiegs, Marlene Tiegs and Barb Tiegs. He was predeceased by his parents Chris and Florence Tiegs, and by his three brothers: Alan, Don and Art. Ken came with his family from Maple Creek to Brooks in 1937. He went to school in One Tree and Brooks. He married Barbara in 1953. They ranched in both Buffalo and Brooks areas, and then settled on the family farm east of Brooks. They shared duties of the dairy farm and grew vegetables in the Newell Vegetable Co-op. Ken was an active member of the Brooks Elks and the Brooks Flying Club. Later he was active with the Alberta Flying Farmers and the Lethbridge Heart to Heart support group. His most recent hobby of model railroading brought great joy and a sense of pride while entertaining guests at their home in Lethbridge. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Christensen Salmon Funeral Home, 327-10 Street South, Lethbridge, with Rev. Peter Walker officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2M7; or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #207-542-7 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2H1.
