Tiegs-Arthur George Tiegs
September 17, 1935, to June 15, 2004
Art was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, a son of Chris and Florence Tiegs. The family moved to Alberta when Art was two, and they settled on a farm at Brooks. He took his schooling at Brooks and furthered his education at Olds College. Last summer he took in the 50th reunion of his graduation from the college. In 1963 he started a 30-year career with Farm Credit Corporation–a very dedicated employee. He worked at head office in Edmonton for 10 years, Red Deer 5 years and Stettler 14 years until retirement in 1992. On July 17, 1965, Art married Marlene Shearer, and to this union three sons were born. He was predeceased by his parents, and infant son and two brothers, Alan and Don. Art is survived by his loving wife Marlene; two sons Dean (Lorrie) of Edmonton and Jerry (Nicole); two granddaughters Georgia and Paige of Red Deer; three sisters Joyce Shackleton (Jack) of Lethbridge, Lois Petersen (Peter) of Brooks and Ellie Bauer (John Penner) of Taber; one brother Ken (Barb) of Lethbridge; two sisters-in-law Barb of Westlock and Sheila of Brooks; two brothers-in-law Allen Shearer (Fay) of Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, and Bert Shearer (Maxine) of Spruce Grove; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of wonderful friends. Art passed away peacefully in the Stettler Hospital at the age of 68 from heart disease. He will be missed by family and many friends. Art enjoyed helping on a nearby farm, camping, working on his computer, but most of all spending time with his family. Immensely proud of his sons and granddaughters, he took a keen interest in their lives and accomplishments. Being called “grandpa” always put a big smile on his face. A Celebration of Life was help on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at the Stettler United Church, Stettler, Alberta with Rev. David Denholm, officiating. Interment followed at the Lake View Cemetery, Stettler, Alberta. Stettler Funeral Home Ltd. entrusted with the care and arrangements.
