Thompson – Henry Arthur Thompson, beloved husband of Arline Thompson of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on November 30th, 2005 at the age of 88 years. Born in the Lomond area on August 5th,1917 he was raised in there. Henry and Arline Gibson were married in Calgary on July 15th, 1944 and farmed in Lomond until moving to Brooks in 1970. He had worked cattle sales at both Brooks Livestock and Bow Slope for several years. Henry had been a member of the Lomond Lions Club, the Vulcan Masonic Lodge, both the Elks and Legion in Brooks and the Prairie Pioneers. He was an avid sports fan especially enjoying the Blue Jays and watching his family at softball. He had coached Ladies Softball for a number of years, loved fishing and gardening. Henry will be lovingly remembered for his love for his family and for his gentleness. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Ellen, son Bill and sister Elsie Thompson. Henry is survived by his loving family, wife Arline; daughter Susan Hodgson and her husband Bob of Duchess and their daughters Shelly (Darren) Vikedal and children Zak and Quinn of Duchess, Lindsay of Duchess and Robbie (Cody) of Duchess; daughter-in-law Linda Thompson and family Jason (Jacquie) of Duchess, Ryan (Gwen) of Duchess and Robert and his sons Jaxon and Charlie and their mother Mary in Red Deer; sisters Clara Bride of Vulcan and Dorothy Thompson of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 5th from the Brooks United Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
