Stratychuk – It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Victor (Vic) Michael Stratychuk of Brooks, on July 23rd at the age of 76 years. Vic passed away peacefully with love by his side. He was born in Canora, SK to Mike & Katie Stratychuk on October 27th, 1946 and was the youngest of 2 children. Vic resided in Canora until after grade 12 and then attended the University of Saskatchewan, in Saskatoon, where he receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He went on to teach high school for several years. Vic married his first wife, Judy and moved to Calgary, where they welcomed their twins, Carolyn & Caley. Later in life, he received his Journeyman certificate in Refrigeration. While working in Brooks during 1990, he met a woman who would become his lifelong love, Selina Seto. In 1994, he started his company Ice Tec Cooling Systems Ltd and continued doing what he loved until 2022. Vic enjoyed solving problems and designing refrigeration systems for his many customers. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and stargazing. Many of his cherished memories were made while away at his hunting camp in Manning, Alberta, with his close friends and son. While driving anywhere in town, you could always find his dog Marley next to him in the front seat, ready for whatever adventures Vic was headed to. One of his favorite pass times was enjoying a good glass of red wine at the Patricia Hotel, while listening to his favorite tunes on the jukebox, surrounded by his hunting buddies and Selina by his side. Vic will always be remembered for being a gentle giant and for his amazing cabbage rolls and pancakes. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses in the long-term palliative care ward at the Brooks Health Centre for their care and compassion while looking after Vic. He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Katie Stratychuk; brother-in-law, Albert; niece, Patricia and grandniece Kindra. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Selina (Seto); children, Caley (Stacey), Carolyn, Nicole (Joel) Nichols; grandchildren, Deklin and Emerson; sister, Violet as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
