    November 27, 1928 – March 20, 2015
Surrounded by the love of his family we lost an extraordinary man, Ken Stevenson. A deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. To the end of his journey Ken loved life, cherished his family, and never gave up hope for another tomorrow. Ken traveled the world and was renown in the Oil Patch working domestically and internationally. Ken began his career with Dowell Schlumberger in the early 1950’s working in Argentina and Venezuela then to Nigeria and Libya. From Africa Ken moved onto Indonesia and Singapore with Halliburton Services. It was in Singapore where Ken met the love of his life, Bonnie and together they came back to Canada to start a new chapter in their lives. Ken and Bonnie moved to Brooks, Alberta in 1973 where Ken continued with Halliburton before he became a consultant for several Oil & Gas companies. He set a standard for excellence and became a legacy for his ability to train the best “hand” on any location. Ken and Bonnie travelled together all over Alberta and Saskatchewan with his dog Gypsy until his retirement in 2000, 50 years in the Oil & Gas Industry. When Ken retired he and Bonnie shared the hobby of wood working and together they traveled around to all the local Farmers Markets to sell their creations. Mom always said that Dad only went so that he could visit with everyone and swap stories. With grace, honour and dignity Ken leaves his wife of 43 years Bonnie, daughters Cindy (David) Rice, Patti (Wayne) Anderson, Pam (Brian) Steele and sister Shirley (George) Bell; 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and loving nieces. Ken was predeceased by his father Whitney, mother Inez and brothers Lloyd and David. A Very special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Brooks Health Centre and all the home care workers who treated Ken. You made our last days with him possible. To Dr. Thompson, our heartfelt appreciation, Ken thought the world of you. Dad always said that the measure of a man was not the size of his boots but how he wore them. As a family we are heart broken and will miss him from the moon and back. Our superman didn’t wear a cape; he wore a Stetson and Cowboy boots. Until we meet again Dad, we love you. A Celebration of life for Ken will be held at the Duchess Hall at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 28th. In lieu of flowers Ken’s wishes were to have the Brooks library and Brooks & District Health Foundation as his charity of choice. Arrangements in care of THOM’S FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE.
