It is with love and sorrow that the family of Alois “Lloyd” Paul Steinback announce his sudden passing on Sunday, November 23, 2008 in Whitecourt, AB at the age of 68 years.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 46 years, Clara; his son, Scott (Jill) of Jakarta, Indonesia; four granddaughters, Nicole, Taran (Ryan), Natasha, and Sierra; mother of his granddaughters, Shannon Bales; great granddaughter, Preslee Mai; mother, Marie Wagner; and siblings, Peter (Muriel), Ruby Huber, Bill (Annette), and Marie (Dale) Richards. He also leaves behind brothers and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Trimmer, Gladys Christensen, Ellen (Hal) Nelson, Harold (Sally) Scarrow, Danny (Coralee) Vescarelli, Donna (John) Ferguson; his special cousin, Harry (Blanche) Wingenback; as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Jacob Steinback (1968); his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Dan Vescarelli; brothers-in-law, Bud Trimmer and Cal Christensen; and sister-in-law, Mildred Scarrow.
Lloyd was born in Clashmore, Saskatchewan on June 6, 1940, and grew up in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. He spent 45 years working in the oil patch in Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., Nigeria, Libya, France, Indonesia, Brazil, and Russia. Lloyd had friends and colleagues from all parts of the globe and all nationalities. He enjoyed golf, camping, and travelling together with friends and family. Lloyd will be missed.
A Celebration of Lloyd’s Life will be held Friday, November 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Whitecourt United Church, Whitecourt, AB, with Reverend Harold Bakker officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place in the Park Memorial Crematorium. In Memory of Lloyd, if friends desire, a memorial tribute can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
