Springer – Ruby Delphine (Peterson) Springer of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Gordon Springer, passed away peacefully at the Brooks Health Centre, Long Term Care on Tuesday, August 26th, 2014 at the age of 97 years. Born on June 24th, 1917 in Bingville, Alberta, Ruby resided there until age 18. She met Gordon Springer in the spring of 1938 and were married on October 30th, 1939 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Ruby worked at Nally’s Potato Chip Factory in Brooks for years and then as a desk clerk for the Brooks Hotel, until she retired at the age of 65. After retirement, Ruby built her dream home where she resided until her passing. She loved spending time with her family, gardening, canning, tinkering in her shop and around her home. Ruby was pre-deceased by husband Gordon Springer (March 15th, 1979); daughters Clara and Joan; son-in-law Vern Lillehei; parents Ragna and David Peterson; stepfather Westergaard Petersen; brother Hartman (Peggy) Peterson and sisters Mildred Church and Edith (Jack) Currier. She is survived by her four children, Elvera Lillehei, Valerie (Mark) Kussman, Larry (Peggy) Springer and Brenda (Terry) Shepherd; ten grandchildren, Rob (Cheryl) Connelly, Craig (Missy) Connelly, Keith Connelly, Dawna (Darren Visser) Walliser, Cory (Delaina) Springer, Shanda (Curtis) Wood, Stacey (Christin) Lillehei, Cody (Jen) Shepherd, Teresa Hein, Kevin Lillehei; 21 great grandchildren; lifelong best friend, Earl Edvardson and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. John Theiss officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
