Peacefully, surrounded by his family at St. Joseph Hospice, on Thursday, April 2, 2015. The son of William and Cecilia Soper, born October 21, 1919 in Alvinston. Loving husband of the late Marion Wade (1993) and late Nadine Shortt (2004 ), Father of Gloria Aitken (Bill), Alberta, Bette Cook (John) Sarnia, Stepfather to Robb (Carol) Huff Petrolia and Randy (Dianne) Shortt, Oil Springs, late Pat Massie 2007 and their families. Cherished grandfather of Lynn, April, Marion and Billy, Great Grandfather of Becky, Jamie, Wyatt, Joey, Leanne and Jonathon. For 35 years Joe worked at Imperial Oil as a pipe fitter. He was an avid softball, football player and coach; member of the Lambton Imperials, inducted into the Sarnia Sports Hall of Fame. Joe was a lifelong member of Laurel Lea St. Mathews Church, an avid golfer and for many years a volunteer driver with the Children’s Aid. He is predeceased by brothers, Warren and Jim and, his sister Jean. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
