SMITH – Mary Jane Smith, beloved wife of the late Robert Kelso Smith (Bob) Sr. of Bow City, passed away in Brooks on Friday, July 16th, 2004 at the age of 91 years. Born in Purple Springs, Alberta on June 15th, 1913 to parents Lewis and Ada Oliver, Mary was raised in Taber where she married Bob on December 17th, 1932. They resided in the Taber area until moving to Bow City in 1935. Mary has been a resident in the Brooks Health Centre Long Term Care Unit for the past 4 years. She was predeceased by her husband Bob on December 8th, 1999; son Ronald Thomas on June 19th, 1953; parents Lewis and Ada Oliver; 2 brothers Edward and Robert Oliver and a sister Margaret Myers. Mary is survived by her loving family, 3 sons Robert (Arlene), Leo (Zelma) all of Brooks and Kelly (Giselle) of Edmonton; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sister May Calvert of Brooks; 3 sisters-in-law Martha Smith of Bow Island, Peg Smereck of Lethbridge and Florence Smith of Taber and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 20th from the Brooks United Church. Rev. John Theiss of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were Cody Smith, Kathy Smith-Verhoef, Connie Waddle, Cindy Severtson, Candace Petek, Sandra Redpath, Richard Smith and Carl Smith. Active Pallbearers were Ryan Smith, Stewart Smith, Barry Smith, Glenn Smith, Clifford Smith and James Waddle.
