Smith – Lillian Smith of Brooks, beloved wife of Elmer Smith, passed away in Brooks on Friday, July 19th, 2024 at the age of 91. She was born on July 8th, 1933 in Unity, Saskatchewan to Mary and Peter Klapco. Lilly shared many happy memories growing up on the farm. She moved to Edmonton and started working at age of 16. She met and married Elmer Smith and together they had two children, David and Sheila. They lived in Regina and Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Calgary and finally settled Brooks in 1967. Lilly had a huge, beautiful flower and vegetable garden. She worked very hard at whatever task or job she was working to the best of her ability. Lillian worked at the vegetable plant and later at Brooks Greenhouses for a number of years. She loved working at Brooks greenhouses and considered the Schegas family. Lilly loved music, dancing and especially listening to Elmer playing the accordion. She loved family get togethers and was a great cook. Lilly was predeceased by her loving son David. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Elmer Smith; her daughter, Sheila; grandsons, Blaine (Kim) and Brendon (Kristine) and great grandchildren, Kinnley and Kyden. A private family graveside service was held at Brooks Cemetery.
