    Skuban – Marrain “Mary” Skuban (nee Unser) of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Paul Skuban, passed away peacefully on Sept. 25, 2013 in Brooks at the age of 87 years. Born in Mankato, Saskatchewan, on July 11, 1926, Mary attended school in Rosefield, SK. She met Paul Skuban at the age of 17 ½ and they were married on Nov. 29th, 1943. Mom was the second oldest child of John and ODelia Unser. Mom and Dad lived in Rolling Hills on the farm for 21 years. The first child was born on Dec. 23, 1944 and six more children followed. They then moved to the hamlet of Rolling Hills for 3 ½ years, Duchess for 13 months, Bar 4-T Ranch in Patricia for 2 ½ years and finally into Brooks where they bought a house on centre street and lived there for 29 years. Mom loved to knit, dance, play cards, visit, read, do puzzles, kiss babies—well kiss everyone, with a little hugging in between and just enjoyed life. She went to many jam sessions with MerryAnn and friends and danced the night away. Mom loved animals, had a kind word for everyone and was very generous with her time and anything else that she had. Mary was predeceased by her husband Paul of 55 years June 20th, 1999, and brothers George, Flory, Kasper, Frank and John Unser. Mom lived in the house for 5 years after Paul’s passing, and then moved to Villa #4 until her passing. Mary is survived by 7 children: MerryAnn Skuban of Duchess, Branda Kreil and special friend Ed of Lindale, AB, Rodney and Heather Skuban of Vauxhall, Valorie and Allan Green of Brooks, Bernice and Mike Rosypal of Winfield, AB, Gilbert and Sherri Skuban of Seven Persons, AB and Ben and Lorna Skuban of Vauxhall; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren—with one on the way; 9 great great grandchildren; brother Lawrence and Shauna Unser; sisters Dorothy and Ralph Kreil, Kathy Vaselenak, Julia and Russell Dickie, Lorraine Unser and Barbara Blackmere; sisters-in-law Elsie Nygaard and Margaret Skuban; and brother-in-law Melford Korsberg and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many many wonderful friends. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. We will all miss her kisses and hugs!! Funeral services were held on Monday, September 30th at 11:00 AM from the Rolling Hills Community Centre. Rev. John Theiss officiated. Interment followed at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
