Skanderup – Clifford Immanuel Nielsen Skanderup, beloved husband of Evelyn Skanderup, went to be with his Lord on April 16th, 2008, at the age of 75 years. Clifford was born in Tilley to Pastor Anton and Kristine Skanderup on January 21st, 1933; he was the eighth of nine siblings. Clifford lived in Tilley from 1933 until in 1937 when Pastor Skanderup, left his call at Bethany Lutheran Church in Tilley and took a call to preach in Redvers, Saskatchewan, at Dannevirke Lutheran Church. Clifford received his schooling in Revers, and Edenvale, Saskatchewan. The Skanderup family lived there until 1944 when Pastor Skanderup received another call to preach at Salmonhurst and New Denmark, New Brunswick, where he served as pastor for three years. Clifford also received his education in New Brunswick. Clifford was the last one of the Skanderup children to be confirmed by his father on November 2nd, 1947 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, in Salmonhurst, New Brunswick. In 1947 the Skanderup’s returned to Tilley from New Brunswick. The Skanderup’s operated an egg grading station in the village of Tilley for two or three years before moving to the ‘home place’ farm across the road from Bethany Lutheran Church. Clifford married Evelyn Marie Wester on March 4th, 1961. They lived on and farmed the Skanderup home place in Tilley, where they raised their family. Clifford, Evelyn and family were very active participants in Bethany Lutheran Church. Life revolved around church, family, farming, a few thousand chickens, dogs, cats, school and extra curricular activities. In 1970 they built the house that stands on the farm where Darren and Melinda Skanderup live today. In October 1996 Clifford and Evelyn moved to Brooks. Clifford tried his hand at retiring but it wasn’t for him. He continued to farm part-time and worked part-time for Smith Funeral Home; both were jobs he enjoyed very much. He continued to custom swath until this August and worked at Smith’s until recently as well. Clifford was always fixing something, helping someone, working on a wood working project, or enjoying music. He could always see someone in need, or if something needed to be done; and would just do it, or without any expectation for compensation in return. He loved to have fun and laugh with his friends and family. Clifford was predeceased by his parents Pastor Anton Nielsen Skanderup and Kristine Skanderup; his father-in law Ralph Wester Sr. and step-mother-in-law, Gertie Wester. He was predeceased by his brother Verne Skanderup; brother Milton Skanderup; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Elsie Skanderup; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Ben Colbens; sister-in-law Ruth Skanderup; brother-in-law, Ahlmann Olsen; brother-in-law, Niels Eskesen; sister-in-law, Jeannie Wester; nephew Keith Colbens; nephew, Clark Colbens; and nephew, Lloyd Colbens.
