SIMPSON – Debra (Deb) Simpson
1951-2024
It is with sad hearts that we remember our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Debra Lyn Simpson (Plant); who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21 at the age of 72 in the presence of family. Debra, also known as Debbie and Deb to many, had a variety of interests. Over the years she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, always with a cup of black coffee in tow. She enjoyed watching curling, hockey and cheering for any sports team from Saskatchewan. Switching from a Montreal Canadiens fan and becoming a late addition Flames fan may have drawn criticism from family. An avid reader and lover of word searches, she spent many hours enjoying these hobbies. Deb moved from her childhood home at Deloraine, Manitoba to make a new home with her husband and children across the Saskatchewan prairies. Settling for a substantial amount of time in Aneroid, Saskatchewan, she made many dear friends and worked with the elderly in home care; a passion she enjoyed. Wherever she went she was quick to make connections and friends. Debbie is survived by her two sons Shaun (Shauna) and Kyle (Coral), along with her daughter-in-law Denise, and stepson Jeremy (Kimberly). She has now joined her oldest son Ried, who had pre-deceased her. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren Ethan (Nicole), Jill (Cody), Chelsea (Fletcher), Kolby (Jordyn), Adrianna (Hoss), Jorja, Kyler (Haley), Sophie and great-grandson Connor. As well, she is survived by her younger sister Roslyn (Jim), younger brother Todd (Kendall), nieces and nephews. In keeping with Debra’s wishes, there will be no memorial service held. Those she left behind will miss her mischievous smile, tenacious spirit and her love of jokes and stories with a “No Foolin” comment in agreement. A special thank-you goes out to all the support staff people that gave Debra exceptional care: Newbrook Lodge, Home Care, Brooks Health Centre and Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
