SERVICE – James Murray Service of Calgary, passed away October 6, 2013 age 83 years old.
Born and raised in Brooks, Alberta, only son of James & Edna Service formally of Brooks, Alberta.
Murray worked in the Brooks Bulletin in his early teens under Clive Nesbitt. Murray started his baseball career in Brooks at an early age and was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Murray first worked for Calgary Power and then worked for TransAlta for 36 years before he retired.
Murray was picked as a volunteer for the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, also was a White Hatter at the Calgary Airport.
Survived by his wife Pat and sister Bonnie Stephen and her family. Murray also survived cancer fifteen years ago.
There will be no funeral, cremation, any donations in Murray’s name to the Airdrie Museum.
