    Seely – Ethel Kathleen Seely of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Dan Seely, passed away peacefully in Brooks on September 9th, 2006 at the age of 88 years. Born in Nanton, Alberta on February 7th, 1918 Ethel received her education there. Ethel Smith and Dan Seely were married on April 12th, 1938 in Calgary residing in Nanton, before moving in 1941 to Rosemary and in 1945 to Gem where they farmed and ranched. They moved to the Newbrook Lodge in 2002 where she has resided since. Ethel was an active member of the Gem Ladies Club and in her later years she played guitar with the “Rhythm Pals” at the Newbrook Lodge. She loved her family, gardening, flowers and music. Ethel will be remembered for sense of humour, for being a great hostess and her stern guidance. She was predeceased by her husband Dan on Sept 9th, 2003, son Jack in 1976 and a great grandson Wacy Brodoway in 2001. Ethel is survived by her loving family, 4 children daughter Lucille Gillis of Duchess, daughter Marlene Wigemyr and her husband Ivan of Medicine Hat, daughter Joyce Calvert and her husband Jerry of Bow City and son Justin and his wife Joy of Hanna; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 15th from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rosemary. Bishop Richard Hall officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Mom’s family and friends. Active Pallbearers were Ethel’s grandsons, Lyle Andrus, Mark Calvert, Justin Calvert, Cade Seely, Dwayne Wigemyr and Dwight Wigemyr. Interment followed at Bassano Cemetery. In memory of Ethel, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Newbrook Lodge, Bag 370, Brooks T1R 0G5.
