SEELY – Daniel Bert Seely, beloved husband of 65 years to Ethel Seely of Brooks, passed away peacefully in Brooks on September 9th, 2003 at the age of 92 years. Born in Grassy Lake on December 17th, 1910 Dan received all his education there and later moved to Nanton to work with his uncle. Dan and Ethel Smith were married on April 12th, 1938 in Calgary and resided in Nanton before moving to Rosemary in 1941 and later to Gem in 1945 where they farmed and ranched. They moved to the Newbrook Lodge, Brooks in 2002 where they have resided since. Dan loved his family, horses, fishing, hunting, rodeo’s and roping. He will be remembered for his sense of humour and for being a good cowboy. Dan was predeceased by a son Jack in 1976, great grandson Wacy Brodoway in 2001, a sister and 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife Ethel of Brooks; 4 children, daughter Lucille Gillis of Duchess, daughter Marlene Wigemyr and her husband Ivan of Fort Macleod, daughter Joyce Calvert and her husband Jerry of Bow City and son Justin and his wife Joy of Hanna; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 13th from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rosemary. Bishop Mark Watson officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Dan’s family and friends. Active Pallbearers were Dan’s grandsons, Lyle Andrus, Dwayne Wigemyr, Dwight Wigemyr, Justin Calvert, Mark Calvert and Cade Seely.
