Sears – Johnnie Alphonsos Sears, beloved husband of Edna Sears of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on December 26th, 2004 at the age of 86 years. Born in Craik, Saskatchewan on March 6th, 1918 Johnnie grew up in the Patricia area. After his school years in Princess and Patricia he worked on drilling rigs for a number of years before joining the Navy. Johnnie and Edna were married in 1947 and raised their family on a farm in Patricia. He always had a keen interest in sports, in his younger years it was baseball and hockey. As he grew older these were substituted with golf and curling. They retired to Brooks in 1979 and Johnnie worked as a Real Estate Agent until his 80th birthday. For the past years he has been a resident in the Brooks Health Centre – Long Term Care where he received wonderful care. Johnnie will be remembered for his love of sports, his quick wit and his love and devotion for his family. He was predeceased by an infant daughter Janice Ann, parents Al and Elizabeth Sears and a sister Marjorie Teskey. Left to mourn his passing is his loving family, wife Edna and their 5 children, Marilyn (Terry) McCool and their children Kelly, Shannan and Sean; John (Brenda) Sears and their children John and Jennifer; Gary Sears; Carol (Rob) Medynski and their daughter Cindy; JoAnn (Richard) Wald and their children Taylor and Jamie and 1 great grandson Allen Sears. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 31st from the Brooks United Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiating.
