    It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family announces this sudden and tragic passing of Sara Scobie at Slave Lake, Alberta.

    Sara leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory, her husband William Faughnan, her loving parents Kim and Loralee Scobie, her younger siblings and best friends Kirstin and Sean Scobie. Also, Sara’s grandparents Hugh and Sherry Scobie, Lorne Gogal, and Kasper Bergman, along with her many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.

    Sara was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Agnes Bergman, Uncle Carman Scobie, cousin Brett Prier and all her great grandparents.

    Sara graduated from the University of Alberta, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Biology. She was employed at the Lesser Slave Lake Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation at the time of her passing.
    Sara had a passion for all animals and the environment and was known for taking in injured or stray pets.

    Sara was a unique creative beautiful person with many varied interests, she loved music, took pottery classes, practiced yoga daily and had a passion for crossword puzzles.

    On Dec. 27’07 Sara married her soul mate William Faughnan at Fairmont, B.C. with their families by their side. Sara and William were going on their honeymoon in April to Hawaii, where Sara could fulfill her dream of surfing in Hawaii.

    Sara was a quiet, gentle and kind spirit that loved her life and never took a single day for granted in her short life. Her family aspires to attain the level of wisdom, kindness and compassion that she embodies in her everyday life.

    A celebration of Sara’s life was held on March 17 at the Boreal Centre in Slave Lake, AB. Cremation has taken place and it was Sara’s wish that her ashes be scattered in the wind.

    Sara’s vision for the Boreal Centre was unwavering and she love her work there and cared deeply about the people at the centre and their research/education programs. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Sara Scobie Memorial fund, c/o The Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation, Box 1076, Slave Lake AB. T0G 2A4.
