Warren Schmitke of Calgary passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the age of 65 years.
After graduating from Brooks Composite High School, Warren attended Classes at the University of Lethbridge. He later was employed by Esso, and worked in the Ft. Sask. area, then took a posting in Norman Wells, NWT where he resided for 20 plus years. After leaving Esso, he was involved with the Historical Society in Norman Wells, and acted as Curator of the Museum there, along with having the local Bus contract, and took on a few other roles as local Magistrate and Sheriff. He had a great love of antiques and especially pottery and glassware and was very knowledgeable in them. He will be missed greatly.
Warren is survived by his brother Roger. He was predeceased by both his parents, Emmanuel and Gladys Schmitke.
A Celebration of Warren’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
