Schega – Berta (Betty) Schega of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on December 6th, 2024 at the age of 98 surrounded by family. She was born in St Goar, Germany on January 14th, 1926. She came to Canada and married Werner Schega in 1958. Mom ran the local flower shop, Brooks Greenhouses, for over 40 years where she always greeted everyone with a warm smile, a never-ending compassion for her customers, and offered heartfelt advice. Mom never forgot a face and was always willing to help anyone in their time of need. Her life was guided by her unwavering faith which set an example for her family and the people she encountered. Her memory lives on through her daughters Bernice, Janet, Liz (Greg), and Maria (Danny); grandchildren, Jen (Mark), Jordan (Jordan), Jarrid (Devan), Janyssa (Dave), Alyssa (Kelly), Ashley (Quinton), Brody (Macey), Summer, Tanya (Graeme), and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Zander, Zara, Benson, Harper, Adeline, and another on the way. A Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:45 PM from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Eligio Canete officiating. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, December 11th at 11:00 AM from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Eligio Canete Celebrant. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.
