Saunders – Stanley Arthur Saunders, beloved husband of Joyce Saunders of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on September 17th, 2005 at the age of 89 years. Born in Toronto on March 14th, 1916 Stan moved to London, England at the age of 3 and to Millicent at the age of 12. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces serving overseas in England from 1939 – 1944, returning to Brooks. Stan and Joyce Berry were married on September 16th, 1944 at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Brooks and resided here since. He worked for the EID as a book keeper progressing to Assistant Manager, retiring in 1981. Stan was a lifetime member with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #63, Brooks and also the Brooks Masonic Lodge. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Stan will be remembered for his pride, sense of humour, wit and for being respected by those who truly knew him. He was predeceased by his parents Ethel and Henry Saunders, in-laws Norah and Frank Berry, brother Vic Saunders and sister Peggy Saunders. Stan is survived by his loving family, wife of 61 years Joyce; 3 children George and his wife Marilyn of Athabasca and their children Scott (Kelly) Saunders, Dalton Saunders and Heather Saunders; Jean Russell and her husband Richard of Regina and their children Kent (Luciy) Russell, Marcie (Roy) Lebeau and Jesse, Alycia and Matthew Lebeau; Marjorie Keinick and her husband Wilf of Brooks and their children Lee (Terri) Keinick and Gabriel, Adam Keinick (Nicole McGarrity), Joe Keinick (Lacey Baksa). Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22nd at 2:00 PM from St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Brooks. Rev. Ken Wells officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marilyn Saunders, Richard Russell and Wilf Keinick. Active Pallbearers will be Kent Russell, Marcie Lebeau, Scott Saunders, Heather Saunders, Lee Keinick, Adam Keinick and Joe Keinick.
