Saranchuk – It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter and sister ,Joel Saranchuk, in Brooks, on Thursday, August 15th, 2019 at the age of 51 years. Joel is survived by her parents, Yaris and Maxine, brother Sheldon and predeceased by her older brother Konny. Joel was born in Brooks on October 19th, 1967 and attended school locally, before completing her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology with First Class Honours at Medicine Hat College and University of Calgary. Her passion turned to Law where in 1994 she finished her degree before articling in Lethbridge and then working in Brooks and Medicine Hat as a Family Lawyer. For the past 10 years, Joel worked independently as Saranchuk Law in Brooks. In the law profession for 25 years, Joel’s forthright, honest and ethical approach was appreciated by all that had the pleasure to work with her – from clients, to peers and judges. On the sports front, Joel had much success in curling with the highlight being a second place result in the Canadian College Championships. Bowling and golf were also her passions, especially with numerous family four-person tournament outings. In addition, Joel had a love and talent for art and design. Joel overcame many challenges, however, her struggle with cancer was too much. Joel will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was fiercely dedicated to her family and her loss leaves behind a hole in our hearts and a void in our lives. Special thanks to Dr. Thomson and her staff as well as the Brooks Health Centre doctors and nurses for the care they provided for Joel and support they offered for the family.
