SANDVAD – Peder Gerhardt Sandvad of Brooks, beloved husband of the late Aase Sandvad, passed away peacefully in Brooks on February 29th, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Born in Denmark on August 3rd, 1919 Gerhardt received his education there. He married Aase Sorensen on November 15th, 1947 in Denmark and moved to Canada on May 31st, 1957. They lived in Millicent and throughout southern Alberta before buying a farm near Tilley in 1970 and retired to Brooks in 1980. Gerhardt loved his family, gardening, yard work and the outdoors. He will be remembered for his easygoing soft-spoken nature. Gerhardt was predeceased by his wife Aase on January 3rd, 1998, his parents and 2 sisters in Denmark. He is survived by his loving family, 5 children Knud Sandvad and his wife Esther of Bonnyville, John Sorensen of New Zealand, Karen Vander Linden and her husband George of Brooks, Jenny Toth and her husband Joe of Tilley and Diane Kwasnicki and her husband Greg of Chilliwack, BC; 6 grandchildren, Sherry (Stan) Theissen, Tammy Shaw, Rhonda (Chris) Dunne, Jeffrey Toth, Reid Kwasnicki and Blake Kwasnicki; 6 great grandchildren; very special friend Isabelle Lundquist of Brooks and numerous nieces, nephews and family members in Denmark. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 4th from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. John Theiss of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Gerhardt’s family and friends. Active Pallbearers are Jeffrey Toth, Knud Sandvad, George Vander Linden, Greg Kwasnicki, Joe Toth and Chris Dunne.
