Alice May Sagstuen
December 6, 1924 to August 20, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Alice May Sagstuen announce her passing on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Silver Willow Lodge in Nanton, Alberta, at the age of 95 years old. Alice was born on December 6, 1924 in Battle, East Sussex, England to Percy and Elsie Champion, the oldest of 3 children. Alice came to Canada at the age of 18 as a war bride and was always proud of her English heritage and becoming a “true” Canadian. She spent her life in Southern Alberta, mostly Rosemary and Bassano, Alberta. Alice spent her years in Alberta volunteering her time to the “old folks” through the seniors centre, coordinating bus trips, organizing the driving schedules for appointments and calling Bingo.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Waldermar (Bud) Sagstuen in 1998 as well as her son Larry Sagstuen and her daughter-in-law Rosalyn Sagstuen in 2002.
Alice will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Audrey Wilton (husband Brian Wilton) of High River, her grandchildren, Shauna McAloney (husband Dan McAloney) of Okotoks, Tracey Watson (husband Steve Watson) of Okotoks, Tracy Ozubko of Edmonton, Bryan Wilton (wife Becky Wilton) of High River, Travis Wilton of High River and Carter Wilton of Richmond, BC and her great-grandchildren, Kaitlin McAloney, Cassandra Watson, Amber Watson, Crue Wilton, Nolan Wilton, Cade Wilton, Anika Wilton and Quinton Wilton.
The family would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at the Silver Willow Lodge in Nanton, Alberta. All the staff made Alice’s last few years enjoyable and took great care as an extended family.
A small grave side ceremony will be held in Bassano, Alberta in late September 2020.
