Rosland – Derek Rodney Rosland passed away in Calgary on February 18th, 2007 following a snowmobiling accident at the age of 22 years. Born in Lethbridge on May 10th, 1984 the family moved to Brooks in 1990. Derek received his education here attending Central Elementary, Eastbrook and Brooks Junior High schools and graduated from Brooks Composite High in 2003. He had been very involved with the Brooks Boy Scout Association. Derek had worked at Sanjel, Bomart, Smith Bits International and most recently for Landmark (a Halliburton Company) as a Consultant. He loved the outdoors especially snowmobiling, quading, golf, camping, baseball and curling. Derek will be lovingly remembered for his loyalty, for always being there for his family and friends, for his heart of gold and for his ease with people both young and old. He is survived by his loving mom, dad and sister, Shelley, Rod and Allison; his grandmother Arlene Knutsvig of Camrose; grandfather Orlin Knutsvig of Camrose; great grandmothers Sophie Knutsvig of Camrose and Vera Hopkin of Sedgewick, Alberta and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 23rd from Brooks United Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiating. Inurnment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
