Renneberg – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. John Mathew Renneberg passed away on Marth 18th, 2023 with his wife and three daughters by his side. He was born in Bruno, Saskatchewan in 1936, and lived on the family farm near St. Benedict, Saskatchewan until the age of 17. He came to Brooks to work as a telegrapher for the CPR. John worked for 20 years with the CPR all across Alberta, and then worked as an operator and inspector in the oil and gas industry for 40 years. He married the love of his life Lil in 1961 in Gleichen, Alberta. John worked with his family blood testing cows for the stock yards. He was a hard worker all his life. John enjoyed fishing, and hunting, but really loved spending time with his family and friends camping and playing on the lake in his boat pulling his children and grandsons on skis or tubes. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mary, son Blaine and sister Adella. Survived by his wife Lil; daughters, Kim, Shelley (Greg) Matthews and Corry (Randy) Flatla; grandchildren, Gary (Taylor), Eric (Lindsay), Ryan (Teija), Cody (Jesslyn), and Devon; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Maddix, Auden, Ellie, Jude and Millie; brother Neil (Maureen) and numerous nieces and nephews. John’s family would like to sincerely thank the amazing Doctors and Nurses at the Brooks Health Centre. Funeral Mass was Celebrated on Saturday, March 25th, at 11:00 AM from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Marino Infante Celebrant. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 100, 119 14 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 1Z6.
