PORTER – Myrtle Alida Porter passed peacefully at the age of 95 on December 21, 2008 at the Olds Hospital. Myrtle lived at the Kiwanis Manor in Olds, Alberta.
Myrtle was born in Richmond, Saskatchewan on the 9th of February, 1913 to Gilbert and Mable Molden, where she lived until she married Ernest Leslie Porter of Charlestown, North Dakota on November 20th, 1939. They raised four children together in Duchess, AB and later resided in Medicine Hat until Ernie passed on January 27, 1981. Myrtle moved to Olds in 1986. Myrtle loved to laugh and converse and found no greater joy than sharing time with family and friends. She was an active member of the Sons of Norway Fjellsyn Lodge, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Evergreen Club and also volunteered in the Gift Shop at the Olds Hospital. She will be missed by her four children (Audrey Spooner of Olds, Donna Miller of Kamloops, LuWayne Porter of Medicine Hat and Gerald Porter of Calgary) and their spouses (Richard, Robert, Sandy and Penny) her six grandchildren (David, Wanda, Ryan, Leslie, Kelly and Darcy). six great grandchildren (Jeffrey, Eric, Rylie, Alaura, Evan and Anthony) and many dear relatives and friends.
Myrtle was predecesed by her husband Ernie Porter, her sister Alice Maldaner of Brooks, AB, her brother Eugene Molden of Benson, Minnesota and her nephew Vernon Maldaner of Innisfail, AB.
