Pollock – Mary Madeline Pollock, widow of the late William (Bill) Pollock, passed away in Brooks on March 3rd, 2005 at the age of 94 years. Born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan on April 15th, 1910 Madeline received her education at Mount Royal Public School, Gull Lake High School and her post secondary schooling at the Teachers College in Regina. She taught in several rural communities in Saskatchewan for 5 years. Madeline married William Thomas Pollock on June 8th, 1933 in Swift Current. They were married for 43 years living in various locations in Saskatchewan and Alberta before moving to Tilley in 1954. They retired to Medicine in 1971. Madeline moved to Brooks, to the Newbrook Lodge in 1995 and to the Orchard Manor in 2003. She enjoyed working in her garden, knitting and reading. Madeline loved her times visiting with her family and traveling. She was predeceased by her husband, an infant daughter Marilyn; 4 brothers James Rainey, Ivan Rainey, Edward Rainey and Dean Rainey and a grandson Jason Harris. Madeline is survived by her loving family, daughter Sheila Pollock of Edmonton, daughter Eleanor Harris and her husband Leonard of Drayton Valley, daughter Deanna Mortensen and her husband Bill of Tilley and son Barry and his wife Gail of Calgary; 14 grandchildren and their families; sister Florence Mirau of Swift Current; sisters-in-law Ida Rainey of Vancouver and Ardella Rainey of Lethbridge and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 8th from Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks. Rev. George Edmonds officiated. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Interment followed 3:00 PM at Hillside Cemetery, Medicine Hat. Rev. James Farrell officiated. In memory of Madeline, if friends desire, memorial tributes maybe made to either Newbrook Lodge, Bag 370, Brooks, Alberta T1R OG5 or Orchard Manor, 951 Cassils Road West, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1K9.
