It is with heavy hearts that Lura’s family announce her passing. She was the beloved wife of Rex for nearly 50 years until his passing in 2002. Mom was also predeceased by her parents Mary Lillian & Art Manville, her brother Ted Manville and son Reg Peckham. Lura is survived and lovingly remembered by her children; Kent of Summerland, BC, Greg (Melinda) of Nanton, AB, Guy (Mandy) of China, Lisa (Brian) of Calgary, AB; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Lura and Rex moved to Brooks in 1978 to manage The Tel Star Motel, eventually buying it and the Westbrook Motel, they worked hard to be successful in their business. They enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona where they made many friendships. Mom loved sitting in the shade reading. After Dad’s passing, she enjoyed travelling until being diagnosed with Dementia. She lived her final years on the long term care floor of The High River Hospital. Lura’s family would like to thank the staff for being so kind, caring and loving towards her.
There will be no service as per Mom’s wishes. An interment will be held in the spring.
